While thoroughly trained in secular psychology and acknowledging the benefits of this body of knowledge, I have found that the added dimension of spirituality in general, or any specific faith-based approach, greatly enhances the effectiveness and outcomes of my therapy.
I feel that offering clients an opportunity to explore their life beliefs through the lens of spirituality/religion is both clarifying and critical to achieving meaningful and long-term change. I integrate spiritual teachings and Christian counseling research within the broader field of psychotherapy assessment and treatment, in order to facilitate healthy changes and spiritual growth. While being a Christian is not a required element, clients who wish to bring this dimension into their counseling are free to do so.
